see url It all began with immigrant women and Girls. The item was known as “The Shirtwaist” –  Shirts for women worn separately – just like Men. A new dawn of independence that first manifested in cloth. Remnants of which would later ignite a fire consuming the very people who ignited a movement. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was the biggest garment factory in New York from which The Women’s Garment Union Strike started and spread like ‘fire’ through the city deemed “the uprising of the 20,000” eventually leading to the tragedy of the 146 woman on March 25, 1911.
